LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It has been nearly five years since the Lima Sister Cities Association has taken a youth delegation to Japan, but that will change next summer.
After being canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Lima Sister Cities Association youth delegation is heading to Harima-Cho, Japan in June of 2023. Eight area students will be taking the trip along with several students from the 2018 delegation that would still like to go. The group will get to experience many opportunities while in Japan.
"They will be going over and experiencing culture, meeting our sister city Harima-Cho. Visiting the mayor, seeing the sites. And then we'll also be touring around Japan to learn the culture and many historical sites as well," said Matthew Neeley, president of the Lima Sister Cities Association. The association is raising money for scholarships to help the students with the cost of the trip. There will be a "Designer Purse Extravaganza" on February 18th at the Delphos Eagles. You can also make a donation to the association earmarked for the scholarships.
